Wanted
Overall: 7/10
Story: 5/10
Action: 9/10
So I heard mixed reviews about "Wanted" before I saw it. Some people said it was awesome and then a few friends told me they didn't like it. I, personally, loved it. I'm a huge fan of God, I mean Morgan Freeman, and, for numerous reasons, I'm a huge fan of Angelina Jolie. The film had a relatively big and well-known cast, including Chicago's own Common (the majority of the film took place and was filmed in Chicago), as well as Jolie, Freeman, James McAvoy, and Terence Stamp.
As far as the movie as a whole, it was one of the better action movies I've seen recently. Yes, the slow-down shots got a bit old, but overall, I was just really excited to find out what was going to happen next. I loved the comic relief they incorporated, including a soon-to-be regular quote from Morgan Freeman (I'm not gonna ruin it for those who haven't seen it). I'd have to say that this movie was pretty much a much better and cooler version of The Matrix with better actors and a more attractive main female character.

T-Wayne
After doing some surfing on the web, I discovered that Lil Wayne and T-Pain will be forming a rap duo, called T-Wayne. They're scheduled to release their first album in late 2008 or early 2009 and it's going to be called "He Rap, He Sing". Best of all, it's going to be produced by Timbaland, who's produced many other albums and put together some of the catchiest beats of the last few years.
I'm excited to see who's gonna be featured on the album, as no rap album is produced without a few featured artists. My guess is that Akon will be on at least one track, if not more. Who else do you think will be featured? Maybe some Birdman?
Tell me what you think.

Matisyahu and the Wailers
I went to the Matisyahu concert at Ravinia last night. The Wailers opened at about 7:50 (I didn't get there til about 8:05 thanks to trying to find parking at Michael's) and played until about 8:30. They played a few new songs but mostly familiar Bob Marley classics, including "Is This Love?" and they finished up with "Jammin'". I'm really looking forward to their new cd, whenever it comes out. They definitely had the crowd hopping (literally), which only filled about half the Pavilion. It didn't fill in completely until the second song by Matisyahu. He also played a new song and announced he's been recording with his band and that we should be expecting a new album sometime soon. My issue with the majority of the concert was that he only played for about an hour and a half and a good chunk of that time was the band just jamming. We did get the ability to hear some of his beatboxing that he's well-known for doing. The night closed, sorta, with Matis allowing fans to join him on the stage. It turned into the entire stage being jam-packed with fans. At one point, a few fans went crowd-surfing. At the end of the song, Matis and his band left the stage for it to be cleared. After five minutes, someone who works for Ravinia picked up a microphone and announced that Matis would come out for an encore song if everyone would take a step back from the stage. Another five minutes went by and this time, Matisyahu came out on stage and asked the crowd to take a step back. Shortly thereafter, he began singing King Without A Crown. Not more than thirty seconds passed when some idiot decided it'd be fun, or maybe he thought it'd be funny or cool, to run across the stage. Instantly the volume of the music dropped and then stopped entirely. The house lights went up (response: lots of boos) and the concert was over. What a downer to the end of a great night at Ravinia.

Matisyahu w/ the Wailers
I'm going to see Matisyahu with the Wailers as support at Ravinia in Highland Park on Thursday. For those who don't know about Matisyahu (but should), he is a Hasidic Jewish reggae singer, rapper, and beat box artist. The Wailers are Bob Marley's old band. I've seen both acts in concert. I saw Matisyahu at Lollapalooza two years ago and then last summer when he was the main support for 311 at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island. I loved both his performances and really look forward to seeing him again at Ravinia. I also saw the Wailers perform for the first time at the end of 2007 when they opened for Umphrey's McGee at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. The majority of the songs they played were Marley songs, which happen to be my favorite kind of song! Anyway, I really look forward to seeing Matisyahu and the Wailers this Thursday, especially because I've heard Matis could be playing a few classic Marley songs with the Wailers (like he did at Langarado), or so I've heard from Andy over at FestivalCrashers.com
A New Start
I've decided to start a new blog. I'm gonna limit it to things I notice and offer my unwarranted opinion. I don't really care whether it's warranted or not because, if you think about it, who decides the validity of someone else's thoughts or concerns? Not everything in this blog will make sense, but why does it have to? There's so much space on the internet, why bother worrying about what makes sense in one tiny, minuscule, fleck of that space.
Among other things you'll find on this blog, potentially, are:
-Movie reviews
-Album reviews
-Music commentary
-News commentary
-Random Happenings
-Top 10 lists created by my friends and myself
-Other
Thank you gently,
Matt
